Work Experience   RockMelt  
    Mountain View, California | October 2009 to present  
    Principal Designer. I am responsible for the behavior and look and feel of RockMelt on Windows, Mac and mobile platforms. I lead a team of interaction and visual designers through design exploration, refinement and implementation. I work closely with the CEO/Founder on product definition and the product roadmap and with the Engineering Manager to constantly refine our design and agile development process. As the 10th employee of this growing engineering organization I have played many roles and contributed to many areas of the company.  
       
    Palm  
    Sunnyvale, California | January 2008 to October 2009  
    Core team member during the development of the Palm Pre and WebOS platform. As Senior Interaction Designer I was responsible for the user experience of several core applications including the browser, calendar, notes, tasks and the music player. I played a user experience leadership role on the development teams, fostering a tight collaborative relationship with Product Marketing, Engineering and Visual Design. I am the primary inventor on 3 pending user interface patents.

Leadership
In January 2006 I was promoted to a leadership role within the IDEO community leading a multi-disciplinary group of 30 people. During this time I provided mentorship for new employees and shared responsibility to manage the group and ensure high levels of utilization.

Client Collaboration
Throughout my career at IDEO I collaborated closely with the Transformation practice, spending one year dedicated to these engagements that are focused on teaching design methods to clients through collaboration.

Design Research, Interaction Design and Design Strategy
My project work at IDEO spanned many industries and the roles of Design Research, Interaction Design and Design Strategy. Project work included hospital service experience design, a food packaging solution and a mobile music user experience.

    Graduated as a Master of Design. Coursework included design research, design planning,
communication design and strategic planning. Final project (ViaChicago) visualizes a system of innovations that address the issue of traffic congestion management for the Chicagoland region. The key element of the system is a positive incentive program that motivates behaviors that reduce congestion. Fellowship Recipient.
